Light bulb

I love my friends and proud of them,
They're very hard worker and playing an important role in their field.
And every time they did a top notch work, I feel "what can I do in my life?"
Always encourage me.

I believe wherever it is, if it emits light, people notice and pay attention.
So do people.
As long as they emit light, they illumine there, and get bright.

 

This is my light bulb, I should turn on.

Cozy cafe in Kobe

Last Thursday I went to Kobe to see IJK (International Jewelry fair in Kobe).
This is the first time after 4 years.
IJK is held once a year in May, Kobe is famous city for pearl, there are many pearl booths.
Anyway after checking here for a few hours, I went to one café I wanted to visit.

When I tried to before, they had long line in front of building.
This time, it's weekday, I could enter without waiting.

Their specialty is cheesecake!
Everyday they have daily special 2 or 3 types of cheesecake, and for a year, that variety is over 100!
Today is my first visiting, I ordered "The cheesecake". I guess maybe the original is good for first.
When we order "cheesecake and coffee marriage", they serve the best matching coffee.

While waiting they gave us tiny book it explains how to enjoy cake and coffee together.
Soon after they brought cake and coffee!

Plate and mug are very cute!
They use 4 kind of cheese, it gives taste changing when you're eating, like perfume.
First attack, middle and last note.
They served "bittersweet" coffee for "the cheesecake".
First bite, sip coffee...mmm like cheese is melting.
The cake is not big, Japanese moderate size. (don't expect Junior's cheesecake!)

I had a great time here.
I'm looking for their daily special next time!





 

NY fair

Now Hankyu department store in Osaka, Japan, is holding "New York fair."
Once a year they have this event.
Last year, I was in NY, my parents went to check this one and bought slices of pizza.
This year, I'm in Osaka, I visited.

I feel there are more food companies than I expected.
I got canele from "Canele by Celine".
They have 15 flavors at original store, here, they have 9 flavors.
My choice is pistachio, lime, chocolate, ram raison, and lemon.
This is the first time to eat their canele.
Somehow I haven't had any chance to visit this store before.



I like citrus flavor.
Green one is pistachio flavor, needless to say.




Outside is crispy, inside doughy and flavorfully chewy.
I like that texture.

It was fun to check booths but that made me miss NY more, to be honest.

Why do I use Arabic letter for design?

Why I use Arabic letter for jewelry design.
Some may be curious about that. (Thanks!)

I've had been longing for travel abroad since I was a child, as my father was an English teacher.
Meanwhile, my mother was a Japanese calligraphy teacher, it's no wonder was very interested in other countries' letter. Arabic, in particular, has very elegant curvy lines which is used to adorn books and architecture. The letters are very artistic and beautiful.

I studied this language when I was college student.
Arabic is too far from Japanese language system and no chance to use, and maybe I was not so good student, I have not achieved to speak Arabic yet.
I got know how to use dictionary so can read some article, short sentences, very easy book but still I am very beginner.
Even though, this language fascinates me a lot.
When I was learning jewelry design, using Arabic letter seemed very unique.
At first, I made my name key holder in Arabic.
That was great! (I patted on my shoulder!)

I think this first flame of passion keeps firing in my mind.

Some memories in Florence

I took this photo on Florence postcard where I lived for 6 months before.

It was...already 13 years ago!

When I was there, internet hadn't so developed yet, I went to internet café everyday. I missed my family and friends soooo much...
Florence is great city like whole city is museum. Feel like time has been stopped since Renaissance.

Of course that's not true you know, but I felt I don't need to be in hurry to achieve something. Just as it is. That'll be fine. Little by little, I got familiar with this city. And met a wonderful person.

 

She is my jewelry design teacher. I had already studied basic in Japan, known how to draw perspective, so once in a while we ran encounter how to express on design. A few points are different from Japanese style. But basically she finds something good on my idea, encourages that idea to sublime into jewelry design. I could spread my wings.

 

That's why I use this postcard for swallow pendant.

 

 

 

 

 

Farewell party

Last night we had a small farewell party. (how small is only 4!)

We love seafood so went to Okita, nearby our company.

This restaurant has happy hour "after 8, sashimi is half price!"

Before 8 we ordered seafood salad.

 

How colorful salad! Makes Japanese excited!
Front is bamboo shoot tempura, left is fried chicken with ponzu.





This is fried white meat fish wrapped with green perilla.

Plum paste is sandwiched, no sauce, just lemon and salt. Great combination!

Nicely displayed sashimi assort!

 

Of course we ordered sake.

 

Amazing technique! Surface tension!
This is very dry and clear taste, named dokara (means super dry)

 

We had really good time while working and chatting tonight, let's catch up soon!
